I have so many childhood memories related to today's recipe, Ulli Theeyal. My maternal grandmom makes the best ulli theeyal and mum makes it once in a while following her recipe. My grandmother was a school teacher and she uses two kitchens for her day to day cooking. She uses the traditional log wood stove for making rice and the gas stove kitchen for making other dishes. During her busy morning hours, while getting ready to school she runs between two kitchens and finishes all her cooking in style.Once she asked my uncle John about the curry he wants for lunch. He teased her and told a rhyming answer "Thulli Thulli oru Ulli Theeyal". (meaning: jump between the kitchens and make an Ulli Theeyal). From that day onwards, we call it as Thulli Thulli Ulli theeyal😅and this dish is so close to my heart. Stories apart, let us move on to the recipe:

Carrot Thoran Recipe | Kerala Style Carrot Poriyal | Onam Sadya Recipes
Today I am here to share another simple thoran for Onam Sadya. Jany doesn't like to eat the carrot if it is cooked. So, we eat raw carrots and I rarely make carrot thoran/poriyal at home. Last week, just for the sake of posting it here, I prepared it. Both Happy and I liked it very much. I am planning to make it often for both of us. For more Onam Sadya recipes, check out my collection here. Off to the recipe:

Therali Kozhukattai Recipe | Bay Leaf Sweet Kozhukattai | Therali Appam | Ganesh Chathurthi recipes
Happy Vinayagar Chathurthi to all my friends, readers and their families. Today, I am sharing Therali Ilai Kozhukattai as my last recipe for this year's Kozhukattai collection. It is one of my mum's favorites and she makes it very often at home. In the place where my mum was working, for Karthigai Deepam, all my neighbors share us kozhukattai prepared using palm leaves. And, mum shares with them this Therali Kozhukattai. I can recollect many cherishable memories of mum if I think about this kozhukattai. It is very famous in my native since the tree with therali Ilai/Bay leaf is readily available in many houses. I prepared and clicked it during my last India trip at Jany's house since they have a very big tree in the backyard.
The strong smell of the fresh bay leaf enters into the kozhukattai/appam while steaming and gives great flavor to the kozhukattai. The house smells divine after we make this kozhukattai. My mum-inlaw helped me while making this kozhukattai and it came out super awesome. Both uncle and aunty liked it very much. I felt really happy when uncle was appreciating for the perfectly folded kozhukattai's. Do check out my kozhukattai collection too. Let us move on to the recipe:

Elai Adai is one of my favorite snacks that is made in my hometown. I was planning to click Ela Ada during my last vacation to India since finding jackfruit and Banana leaf is really hard in Sydney. However, I missed it and recently, to my surprise I spotted banana leaf and jackfruit in Indian shop. I grabbed both of them immediately since I had few recipes in mind. Jackfruit can be skipped if you couldn't find it. Let us move on to the recipe:

However, to my surprise, she started eating and liked it very much. She gulped almost half of the below-presented bowl in one go 😛 and I am very happy. Let us move on to the recipe:

Eggless Wheat Flour Banana Muffin Recipe | Wheat Banana Chocolate Chip Muffin | Banana Muffin | Eggless Wheat Banana Muffin
I don't prefer cakes with so much of icing and I like mildly sweet plain cakes. Also, I love banana flavoured bread, cake and muffin. For one of the Christmas during my college days, Paneer Anna brought a banana cake from a far away bakery. That is the first time, I tasted a banana cake and it tastes so delicious. Paneer Anna drives our car in native and he is a very close family friend. Hence, whenever I visit native, he will try to bring me that cake. After I started baking, I had tried Eggless Banana Walnut Muffin and Banana Bread. I was thinking about trying some whole wheat cake recipes when my sister in- law started asking about it. To my rescue Hari Chandana posted this recipe on her Instagram and I bookmarked the recipe.
In Happy's school, teachers involve kids in some kinds of cooking or baking once in a week. She loves that very much and after seeing that interest, I involve her whenever I make play dough. Recently, she was asking me to make a cake along with her. Since I was very busy arranging the new house, I couldn't bake any. Finally, two days back I tried this recipe along with Happy and it came out very well. She was very excited about the outcome and she wanted to eat one soon after it is out of the oven. She told it is very tasty and here I am with the recipe:

When I was in the hostel, we friends order Gobi Manchurian and Gobi 65 from a nearby hotel. After marriage, I always make Egg Dipped Cauliflower or Gobi Masala dosa since Jany prefers it that way. Now, for Happy, I make this Gobi 65 since she prefers it this way. This can also be served as a starter for Kids party and they will enjoy it. Let us move on to the recipe and do check out my paneer 65 and Chicken 65 recipes.

Kadachakka Bajji Recipe | Breadfruit Bajji | Cheema Chakka Bajji | How to prepare Breadfruit Bajji
We were moving to another suburb in Sydney and I was completely occupied. Hence, you could not see any new posts from me. Now, we have settled in the new house and I hope to continue blogging. Today I am sharing a recipe of Kadachakka and it is one of the favourites from my native. Jany's house has Kadachakka tree in their backyard and my mom-inlaw makes yummy thoran with that. I have already posted her recipe of Kadachakka thoran. During my recent India trip, we visited Jany's aunt and she served us this bhaji. It was so tasty and I asked her the recipe immediately. After I returned to Sydney, I saw breadfruit quite a few times in Udhaya. It really tempted me to buy and I bought one. I prepared bajji with half and chips with the remaining. I will be posting the chips soon. Check out my Potato bajji recipe as well. Let us move on to the recipe:

I am back to the blog after a long time and the break was not intentional. I was a bit occupied with my personal things and I was really lazy to post something here. When people started to ask about my absence from the blog, I realised the long break. I sincerely thank each one of you who personally messaged, emailed and rang me to ask about the break. Hope everyone in India is relishing the delicious and juicy mangoes. In my part of the world (Sydney), we are entering the winter season and mangoes are not in season. Jany loves Sambhar very much and especially he likes the Capsicum Sambhar. I always try to explore different sambhar recipes. Once my friend, Florence was sharing her lunch scene with radish sambhar. It reminded my hostel days and I almost forgot this sambhar until I saw her photo. I was very much tempted to try it and I was waiting for the availability of white radish in the market. However, I was able to find only the pink radish and I end up making with it. There is no compromise in the taste and it turned out super yummy. Check out my other sambhar varieties like Mixed vegetable sambhar, tiffin sambhar and varutharacha sambhar too. Let us move on to the recipe:

Pineapple Kesari Recipe | Pineapple Rava Kesari | Pineapple Sheera | Pineapple Kesari Bath
Happy Vishu and Happy Tamil New Year to everyone out there. Hope you all are enjoying the long weekend. I have not prepared any special items to celebrate this occasion since it is Good Friday. We were busy with the Good Friday rituals in the church and the day went peacefully. Before winding up the day, I thought to share a special recipe of Pineapple Kesari from my drafts.
During my recent India trip, dad got us few fresh pineapples and it was very tasty. After having few slices of pineapple, I thought of making few dishes using it. I made this pineapple kesari for our special lunch during the church thiruvizha in my native. It came out very well and everyone liked it very much. My uncle (Jany's dad) was asking for a second serving of the kesari since he liked it. Check out my other Kesaris like Milk Kesari, Rava Kesari, Aval Kesari, Semiya Kesari and Wheat Flour Kesari as well. Also, check out the other pineapple recipes from the blog: Pineapple pachadi and Pineapple upside down cake.

Payaru Kanji Recipe | Green Gram Rice Porridge | Cheru Payar Kanji | Pachai Payaru Kanji | Payaru Kanji with Thengai Chammanthi | Good Friday Special
Payar Kanji is a comforting and traditional food for many Keralites and for people from Kanyakumari District. It is very nutritious, filling and easily digestible. My mum and grandma make this payar kanji at least once in a week and it is very close to my heart. Still, I follow the tradition and make it once in a week for dinner. It is very easy to make and it goes very well with coconut chammanthi or pickle. Whenever I feel bored to cook or I am sick, we end up making this since it is nutritious than buying from hotels. Since Good Friday is nearing, I thought of sharing this recipe on the blog. We make Payaru Kanji for lunch on Good Friday and even in Churches, it is served. Check out my Cheru payar Thoran which goes well with Plain rice Kanji. Traditionally, they make it in a big pot. However, you can make it in a pressure cooker too. Red Capsicum Chutney Recipe | Red Bell Pepper Chutney | Chutney Recipes for Idli/Dosa
I am very much interested in trying different chutneys for Idli/Dosa as the side dish. I have already posted 10+ chutney recipes in the blog and to add on this list, today I am sharing yummy red capsicum chutney. Chutney with veggies is very new to me and I started to learn only after my blog. Once my TCS colleague Rama was talking about this red capsicum chutney and I was not very much interested at that time. However, she prepared it once and gave it to me for tasting. It was so delicious and it goes well with Idli/Dosa, Chapathi and also steamed rice. Recently, I tried it at home and it turns out super delicious. Kerala Style Nandu Roast Recipe | Nadan Njandu Roast | Spicy crab roast in Kerala Style
When I was in Chennai, I had got crabs quite a few times since my neighbour helped me with the cleaning of the crabs. After making Crab Masala with Coconut, I was searching for some other recipes without coconut and this recipe caught my attention. I gave it a try and it came out very well. I was postponing this post since the pictures were not good. However, I am never going to buy crab until someone is there to help me out with cleaning. So, I just thought of posting the recipe with my very old pictures. Let us move on to the recipe:

Broccoli Rice Recipe | Indian Style Broccoli Rice | Variety Rice Recipes for Lunch Box | Lunch Box Ideas
Broccoli has a lot of health benefits and I would like to include it in our diet. I don't really like the taste of broccoli and whenever I make Broccoli stir fry or Broccoli potato roast, we eat it considering its health benefits. However, Happy doesn't eat it and to make her eat, I tried Broccoli paratha. She liked it very much and when I was thinking something similar to that, this broccoli rice came to mind. Since we are grinding the broccoli for this recipe, she didn't complain and had it. Do check the broccoli pulao recipe, if you don't prefer grinding the broccoli. Let us move on to the recipe:

Kadai Paneer Dry Recipe | Spicy Kadai Paneer | Dry Kadai Paneer | Restaurant Style Kadai Paneer
I am not a crazy fan of Paneer, I can have it once in a while. I always make paneer butter masala whenever I have paneer at home. Even Jany and Happy don't show much interest in paneer. I try new paneer recipes, just for the sake of the blog. However, after trying Paneer 65 and Kadai Paneer, I started liking Paneer. I am planning to try more recipes in the future. I always use homemade paneer for my recipes and this Kadai paneer goes very well with Roti or Pulao. Let us move on to the recipe and do check out my Chilli Paneer Dry and Mattar Paneer.
