Maa Ladoo /Pottukadalai Urundai |Diwali Special Recipes

Mom has made this Maa Ladoo once or twice in my childhood. Since I don't show much interest, she stopped making it. After a long gap I tasted this ladoo, that too from my preparation :). It tasted awesome and it is also a recipe which can be made in a jiffy with very few ingredients. Since roasted gram is healthy, you can try this yummy ladoos for your kids sake. Here, we go for the recipe.

Ingredients:
Roasted Gram (Pottukadalai) - 1 cup
Sugar - 1/2 cup
Ghee - 1/4 cup
Cardamom (Powdered) - 1/4 tsp
Cashews broken - few
Method:
1. Dry roast the roasted gram for 2 mins until a nice aroma comes. (Don't allow it to change its color). Allow it to cool and then grind it to a fine powder in a mixer.
2. Meanwhile powder the sugar finely. In a wide mixing bowl, sieve together the roasted gram flour and sugar to mix evenly. Along with this add the cardamom powder and mix well.
3. Roast the cashews in 1/4 cup ghee and then transfer the cashews along with the hot ghee to the flour sugar mixture. Initially, start mixing with the spoon.
4. And when it is hand bearable, start making it into lemon sized ladoos. While making balls you will feel like it is breaking, don't panic like me. It will hold its shape, just press it little hard.  Store it in air tight container.
The yummy and healthy Roasted gram ladoos are ready. It can be kept outside for around 2 weeks.
Points to remember:
  • Hot ghee is added to help in shaping the balls. Start making the ladoos when it is warm, and act quickly. If your ladoos are breaking, add little more ghee.
  • Adjust the sugar according to your preference. For us, this is the correct quantity.
  • Add any nuts of your preference, can also add raisins.
Warm Regards,
