Hello everyone, hope you all are doing well. I am in India for a three week vacation and hence I am not active these days. Though I have many recipes in drafts, I am a bit lazy to blog. However, made my mind today to compose a simple and easy stir fry recipe. I cook broccoli once in a week, considering its health benefits. Apart from the stir fry, I make Paratha and Pulao using broccoli. Let us move on to the recipe:
Ingredients:Broccoli - 1
Onion - 1(sliced lengthwise)
Garlic - 4 cloves
Sambhar Powder - 1.5 tsp
Salt - as required
To Temper:
Oil - 1 tsp
Mustard Seeds - 1/2 tsp
Method:Cumin Seeds - 1 tsp
1. Wash and cut the broccoli into small florets. Keep the florets immersed in boiling water for 3 to 5 mins. Drain the water from the florets and keep it aside.
3. When the raw smell of the masala leaves, add the broccoli florets. Mix it all together and cover cook it in low flame.

2. Chop the onions lengthwise and the garlic finely. In a pan, add some oil and temper it with the items under 'To Temper'. Then add the chopped garlic and onion. When the onion turns transparent, add the sambhar powder and required salt.
3. When the raw smell of the masala leaves, add the broccoli florets. Mix it all together and cover cook it in low flame.
4. Sprinkle water and cook stirring in between for even cooking. Broccoli should not be overcooked and make sure it retains the crunchiness.
Serve the yummy and healthy stir fry with steamed rice and any curry of your choice. I served it with Fish Kuzhambu and Steamed Rice.

Points to remember:- Sambhar powder can be replaced with 1 tsp of chilli powder and 1/2 tsp of coriander powder.
- Overcooking makes the veggie lose its nutrients. Make sure it is not over cooked.
- I always use Olive Oil while using Broccoli.
- For Non-Indianized version, replace oil with butter and Sambhar powder with pepper powder. (Sprinkle the pepper powder after the veggie is cooked)
