As mentioned in the yesterday's Suzhiyam post, I am here with another Diwali snack using green gram. This ladoo is very easy to make with minimum ingredients and less time. The same ladoo can be made using yellow split moong dal too. Green grams are always healthy and do give it a try this Diwali. To make it more healthy replace the sugar with jaggery. Check out my other ladoo recipes like Motichoor Ladoo, Maa Ladoo, Til(Sesame Ladoo), Poha(Aval) Ladoo, Besan Ladoo and Rava Ladoo. Check out my entire Diwali collection of Sweets and Savoury snacks too. Let us move on to the recipe:
Ingredients:Green Gram(Pachai Payaru) - 1 Cup
Sugar - 1/2 Cup
Ghee - 1/4 Cup + 1 tsp
Cardamom - 4 or 5

Method:
1. Powder the sugar along with the cardamom pods and keep it aside. Dry roast the green gram in very low flame for 5 to 10 minutes.
2. When the green gram turns golden brown, switch off the flame and allow it to cool completely. After it cools down, grind it to a smooth powder.
3. Sieve it once, if required grind the rava like mixture obtained after sieving. Sieve it again and transfer it to a mixing bowl along with the powdered sugar. Fry the cashews and raisins in 1 tsp of ghee and pour it over the mixture.

- To make it more healthy, you can replace the sugar with the same quantity of jaggery. If using jaggery, grind the powdered green gram with the jaggery once and follow the same process.
- Roasting the green gram plays the major role in the outcome. Roast it well in low flame to get good aroma in the ladoos.
- Adjust the sugar and ghee as per your need. I used exactly this mentioned quantity.
