Pavakkai Kichadi Recipe | Bitter Gourd Kichadi | Onam Sadya Recipes

Today I am sharing yet another recipe from my never-ending drafts. I clicked this Pavakkai Kichadi for Onam, a few years back but somehow it didn't make it to the blog. This recipe calls for deep frying the bitter gourd pieces, but you can shallow fry it with a little oil or air fry/oven bake without any oil. This is one of the easiest ways to eat bitter gourd if you are not a lover of it. On busy days, I just air fry the bitter gourd pieces and mix it with the whisked curd. Then give a very basic tempering and it still tastes amazing. I have already shared a bitter gourd fry recipe and lots of Onam Sadya recipes, do check it out. Also, some of my favourite pachadi's are:

As mentioned earlier in my posts, I love Jackfruit and it is one of my favourite fruits. We have jackfruit tree at my home in native and hence I am exposed to all kinds of dishes that are made with jackfruit. It is not easy to get Jackfruit seeds in Sydney. However, once I was able to get a piece of Jackfruit from the Indian grocery store and I preserved the seeds to try some recipe. Today I am sharing an aviyal recipe made using jackfruit seeds. Do check out my Onam Sadya recipes. I have shared few jackfruit recipes earlier and check those recipes in the links below:

Ulli Theeyal Recipe | Shallots(small red onion) Theeyal | Kerala Style Ulli Theeyal | Onam Sadya Recipes

I have so many childhood memories related to today's recipe, Ulli Theeyal. My maternal grandmom makes the best ulli theeyal and mum makes it once in a while following her recipe. My grandmother was a school teacher and she uses two kitchens for her day to day cooking. She uses the traditional log wood stove for making rice and the gas stove kitchen for making other dishes. During her busy morning hours, while getting ready to school she runs between two kitchens and finishes all her cooking in style.Once she asked my uncle John about the curry he wants for lunch. He teased her and told a rhyming answer "Thulli Thulli oru Ulli Theeyal". (meaning: jump between the kitchens and make an Ulli Theeyal). From that day onwards, we call it as Thulli Thulli Ulli theeyal😅and this dish is so close to my heart. Stories apart, let us move on to the recipe:

Carrot Thoran Recipe | Kerala Style Carrot Poriyal | Onam Sadya Recipes

Today I am here to share another simple thoran for Onam Sadya. Jany doesn't like to eat the carrot if it is cooked. So, we eat raw carrots and I rarely make carrot thoran/poriyal at home. Last week, just for the sake of posting it here, I prepared it. Both Happy and I liked it very much. I am planning to make it often for both of us. For more Onam Sadya recipes, check out my collection here. Off to the recipe:

Chakka Ela Ada Recipe | Ela Ada | Elai Kozhukattai with Jackfruit & Coconut | Elai Adai

Elai Adai is one of my favorite snacks that is made in my hometown. I was planning to click Ela Ada during my last vacation to India since finding jackfruit and Banana leaf is really hard in Sydney. However, I missed it and recently, to my surprise I spotted banana leaf and jackfruit in Indian shop. I grabbed both of them immediately since I had few recipes in mind. Jackfruit can be skipped if you couldn't find it. Let us move on to the recipe:
