Paal Payasam Recipe| Milk & Rice Kheer| Payasam Recipes

The Blogging world has introduced me to so many new and interesting recipes. One such recipe is Paal Payasam. I am not aware of this recipe until I tasted it in my neighboring aunty's house. We make only Paruppu Payasam and Semiya Payasam. The funny thing is until now I call the Semiya Payasam as Paal Payasam without knowing what exactly Paal payasam is. We really loved having this payasam. Just for garnishing purpose I added Saffron, it changed the pure white color of the payasam. If you don't prefer adding saffron, skip it.

Mullu Murukku Recipe| Boiled Rice Murukku | Puzhungal Arisi Murukku | Parboiled Rice Murukku | Diwali Special Recipes

Yet, another traditional recipe from my mom. She makes mullu murukku often since it is one of her favourites😜. Until I started this blog, I never bothered to know the recipe of this addictive murukku. Last month when I was planning for Diwali recipes, I asked my mom about this recipe. She came to Chennai before Diwali during her school vacation and taught me the recipe. It was fun making murukku with her, we thoroughly enjoyed it. She was pressing the murukku and I was frying it. Since this recipe calls for grinding the rice, it is time-consuming. However, it is worth trying and we cannot stop with one after we start munching. Off to the recipe:

Paruppu Poli Recipe | Puran Poli | Diwali Special Recipes

Whenever I travel in train, I prefer to buy the Poli's they sell there. I am not sure about the quality of the Poli they make, but it tastes awesome. I too love the rich ghee version of coconut and Paruppu poli they serve in the Adyar Anandha Bhavan. I always wanted to try it at home and recently when I made Suzhiyam, I reserved some Channa dal filling for making this poli and it came out really well. I am planning to try the coconut poli too. Let us learn to make the divine Dal Poli's.

Thenkuzhal Murukku Recipe| Diwali Special Recipes | Murukku Recipes

Munching homemade murukku is a pure bliss and I am really excited about the outcome. My murukku press does not have the expected thenkuzhal pattern(with 3 or 4 holes), so it looks little different from the normal thenkuzhal murukkuBut taste wise there is no compensation :) I will be updating the pictures, as soon as I get the exact pattern for the press.

I enjoy learning and preparing this snack. Off to the recipe.

Tamarind Rice Recipe/ Puliyogare(Puliyodharai)| Lunch Box Ideas/ Quick Lunch Ideas

I love tamarind rice if my aachi makes it. One fine day, I was craving for tamarind rice and started preparing it on my own without discussing the recipe with anyone else. It was a big flop, and it was the only recipe which Jany doesn't like in my preparation. Whenever I ask him, "What to prepare for today's lunch?", he immediately smiles and tells  'Anything other than Tamarind Rice' :( . So, I really wanted to make a perfect tamarind rice. I browsed for some recipes and asked my friends too. Finally, this was the recipe I was waiting for and it came out really well. Do give it a try, we really enjoyed it.

Peanut Sundal Recipe/ Verkadalai Sundal | Navaratri Recipes

Yet another Navaratri Sundal recipe, Peanut Sundal. I love roasted masala peanuts and peanuts in the mixture. The place where my mom works is famous for peanuts. One of my neighbors has peanuts farm and they used to give us fresh peanuts. Mom cooks the peanuts and makes sundal as an evening snack. Even though I am not fond of cooked peanuts, I have tried it. I haven't introduced peanuts to Happy until now since I have read somewhere that peanuts may create allergic reactions for babies under two years. Mainly for making this Navaratri sundal, I purchased both dry and fresh peanuts last week. It is one of the simple and healthy snacks.

I usually don't prefer having variety rice. I like to have rice only with Kuzhambu and kootu. But I have learned few quick lunch recipes just for the sake of Jany's lunch box. Whenever I was lazy and wake up late, I use one of these recipes to pack lunch for Jany. Out of all these quick lunch recipes, lemon rice is one of the easiest with very less ingredients. I have clicked this recipe long back and was lying in my drafts. When I saw lemon rice as one of the Navarathri Recipes, I thought of posting it now. Fish Fingers are very simple and easy to make recipe. Any fleshy fish can be used for this preparation. I used Vanjiram/King fish to prepare this. Kids will really love it and this is one of the best finger foods which kids can have it on their own. Happy enjoyed having these fish fingers. It is crispy on the outside and soft inside. Usually, we get fish from the nearby market, this is the first time we ordered in Supreme Sea Food. They provided us with excellent finger stripes and we enjoyed a lot.
