I saw this Besan Ladoo in Sangeetha last week, it was new to me and I tasted it immediately. When I asked my friend about the recipe, she said it is very simple and easy to make. I got the recipe from her and I decided to try it over the weekend. To my surprise the ladoos tasted awesome and I liked it very much. For the first time my ladoos where far better than the one I tasted in Sangeetha. Jany doesn't prefer sweets much, but he too liked it. Let's see the detailed preparation steps:
Ingredients:Besan Flour(Gram flour/Kadala Maavu) - 1 cup
Powdered Sugar - 1/2 cup
Ghee - 1/4 cup(Can add 1 or 2tbsp more)
Cardamom powder - 1/4 tsp
Cashews - 20 (broken into pieces)
Method:
1. Sieve the flour once or twice and keep it ready. In a pan add a tsp of ghee and roast the cashews until it turns golden brown. Remove it and keep it aside. Heat the remaining ghee in the same pan.
2. Then add the sieved flour and roast it in low flame. Keep stirring continuously to prevent the bottom from getting burnt. Roast it until the color changes to golden brown. It may take up to 5 to 7 mins for the besan flour to roast well. Switch off the flame and transfer it to a mixing bowl. Add powdered sugar, roasted cashews and cardamom powder.
3. Allow it to cool for a minute and mix it to form a soft dough by adding required ghee. Grease your hands with ghee and start making ladoos. The dough should be little warm to hold its shape.
- I got around 7 ladoos from the given quantity.
- Be patient while you roast the flour since that is the main step in making these ladoos. Take care not to burn the flour.
- You can add more ghee while making ladoo if the dough is not moist enough.
