Mango Sago Recipe

Hope everyone is enjoying the mango season in India. Though I miss it in Sydney now, I have reserved some mango recipes in my drafts that I tried during the last mango season in Sydney (December). I never miss to relish on the seasonal fruits and my favourite fruits are mango, jackfruit and orange. I can have it all day during the season. Today I am sharing an interesting mango dessert which you can try this season. Do check out the other mango recipes from the blog in the links below:

Ingredients:
Ripe Mango - 1 Big sized or 1.5 Cups of Mango Pulp
Sago(Javvarisi) - 1/4 cup
Condensed Milk - 1/4 Cup
Sugar - 1 tbsp
Milk - 1/2 cup
Chopped Mango - 1/4 Cup(to Garnish)
Method:
1. Soak the sago for 1 hour. Then drain the water completely and wash it well to remove the excess starch. Boil enough water in a vessel and add the soaked sago. Cook the sago until it is soft and transparent. Then drain the excess water and keep it aside.
2. Meanwhile, peel the skin of the mango and chop it roughly. Transfer the chopped mango to the blender. Along with this add the condensed milk, sugar and milk.
3. Blend everything together until smooth. Transfer it to a mixing bowl and add the cooked sago.
4. Mix everything together and if required add more milk to adjust the consistency. Chill it for 30 minutes and serve it with chopped mango on top.
The sweet mango pudding can be served as a dessert.
Points to remember:
  • Adjust the sugar and condensed milk as per the sweetness of the mango.
  • Make sure not to cook the sago until mushy. The sago should hold its shape. I have used medium sized sago.
  • Based on the preferred consistency, adjust the milk. You can replace the milk with coconut milk for a different flavour.
Warm Regards,
