Initially I was not aware of the Navarathi celebrations. I saw some sundal recipes in other blogs and then I came to know about it and the recipes prepared for that occasion. Even though I am late, I wanted to post some sundal recipes. Already I have posted Channa Sundal. First, to begin with Navarathiri Sundal recipes, I am sharing you a sweet sundal. Green gram sundal is a simple and easy to make recipe. Whenever I make puttu and payaru, I reserve some Cooked green gram dal to prepare this sweet sundal. Sometimes we have it with sugar instead of jaggery.
Ingredients:Green Gram/Pachai Payaru/Paasi Payaru - 1/2 Cup
Powdered Jaggery - 1/4 Cup (Grated)
Coconut - 1/4 Cup (Grated)
Cardamom - a pinch
Water - 1/4 Cup
Ghee - 1/2 tsp
Salt - a pinch
Method:
1. Dry roast green gram dal for few mins. Then soak it in water for about 1 hour to 2 hours. Pressure cook it with a pinch of salt and immersing level water for 3 whistles. Drain the water and keep it aside.
2. Meanwhile dissolve the jaggery in water in medium heat. Strain to remove impurities.
3. Bring the Jaggery syrup to boil and add the cook dal. Add the ghee and give a quick stir.

3. Bring the Jaggery syrup to boil and add the cook dal. Add the ghee and give a quick stir.
4. Then add the cardamom powder and grated coconut. Mix well to combine. Switch off the flame, after the water drains completely.
Serve it as an evening snack, it is delicious and healthy.

- Instead of dry roasting and soaking for an hour, you can soak it overnight as well.
- You can temper it with Oil, mustard, curry leaves and Red Chilli. Since I don't prefer, I haven't tempered.
- You can even skip the salt while pressure cooking, being a sweet version.
