I grow up eating a lot of cucumber pachadi and beetroot pachadi since mum makes it very often. So Pachadi/kichadi and raita made with yoghurt base are my real weakness. Recently, I saw some super fresh pineapple and I wanted to try some recipes with that. As I have already made pineapple pachadi quite a few times, I tried this simple Pineapple pome raita and it goes well with any pulao or raita. I have already shared the following raita recipes in the blog:
Ingredients:Pineapple pieces - 1/2 Cup
Pomegranate arils - 1/4 Cup
Curd/Yoghurt - 1 Cup
Coriander leaves - 2 tblsp(chopped)
Chilli Powder - 1/2 tsp
Roasted Cumin powder or Chat Masala - 1 tsp
Salt - as required
Method:
1. Clean and chop the pineapple into tiny pieces. Also, get ready with the pomegranate arils.
2. In a mixing bowl, whisk the curd until smooth. Then add the salt, chilli powder and roasted jeera powder or chat masala.
3. Mix it until the powders incorporate with the yoghurt. Finally, add the chopped pineapple, pome arils and chopped coriander leaves.
2. In a mixing bowl, whisk the curd until smooth. Then add the salt, chilli powder and roasted jeera powder or chat masala.
3. Mix it until the powders incorporate with the yoghurt. Finally, add the chopped pineapple, pome arils and chopped coriander leaves.
- For best results, it is better to prepare this raita while serving. If you want to prepare earlier, then refrigerate it until you serve.
- I didn't have coriander leaves and hence skipped it. Adding it gives a nice flavour.
- Always use thick curd for making this raita else after adding the pineapple the raita becomes watery.
- Adjust the curd based on the sourness and you can add 1 or 2 tsp of sugar if needed. I used creamy greek yoghurt and it was not very sour. I skipped the sugar.
