Poori Recipe

I am a big fan of Poori from my childhood days. Even my 1-year-old baby, who doesn't have any teeth love Poori :).  So in our week's menu, a day's dinner is poori. I wanted to make this as a post for people who are new to the kitchen like me. And here we go for "how to make fluffy poori?"

Wheat Flour - 1 cup
Salt- 1/2 tbsp
Water- as required
Little Wheat flour for dusting
Oil - 1 tbsp(optional)
1. Add flour, salt in a wide bowl and mix well to combine. Heat water in a bowl until it is warm.
2. Now add warm water little by little and gather the mix to form a crumbly mix. Sprinkle required amount of water and knead well to form a soft and smooth dough. Can add a tablespoon of oil at this time. Allow it to rest for about 15 to 20 mins.
3. Again Knead the dough and form equal size small balls (lemon sizeto make the pooris. Take the rolling pin and press the balls to form circles. It should not be too thick or too thin.
4. Heat oil in a kadai. Once the oil starts fuming, drop the pooris one by one. Gently press the Poori's with the spatula, so that you get a puffed Poori. Flip the Poori and cook for few seconds till it is golden brown. Now drain the pooris in tissue paper.
Serve hot fluffy poori with Potato masala or any kuruma of your choice. I prefer having it with chicken or mutton dry gravy.

Points to remember:
  • The oil should be hot enough to get fluffy poori.
  • Milk is optional and it gives softness for the pooris. When you make poori's for kids use milk, which will make it more healthy.
  • For better results fry the poori at the time you wish to have.
Warm Regards,
