Maa Ladoo /Pottukadalai Urundai |Diwali Special Recipes
Mom has made this Maa Ladoo once or twice in my childhood. Since I don't show much interest, she stopped making it. After a long gap I tasted this ladoo, that too from my preparation :). It tasted awesome and it is also a recipe which can be made in a jiffy with very few ingredients. Since roasted gram is healthy, you can try this yummy ladoos for your kids sake. Here, we go for the recipe.

Paal Payasam Recipe| Milk & Rice Kheer| Payasam Recipes
The Blogging world has introduced me to so many new and interesting recipes. One such recipe is Paal Payasam. I am not aware of this recipe until I tasted it in my neighboring aunty's house. We make only Paruppu Payasam and Semiya Payasam. The funny thing is until now I call the Semiya Payasam as Paal Payasam without knowing what exactly Paal payasam is. We really loved having this payasam. Just for garnishing purpose I added Saffron, it changed the pure white color of the payasam. If you don't prefer adding saffron, skip it.

Until now I have prepared Gulab Jamun with the ready-made mix. This is the first time I am trying it with Khoya and it turned out perfectly well. I will be sharing the milk powder version soon and let's move t the recipe:

Today we enjoyed my first ever mutton biriyani for lunch along with chicken fry and Paal payasam. This time I haven't clicked mutton biriyani since it was the first time. Mullu Murukku Recipe| Boiled Rice Murukku | Puzhungal Arisi Murukku | Parboiled Rice Murukku | Diwali Special Recipes
Yet, another traditional recipe from my mom. She makes mullu murukku often since it is one of her favourites😜. Until I started this blog, I never bothered to know the recipe of this addictive murukku. Last month when I was planning for Diwali recipes, I asked my mom about this recipe. She came to Chennai before Diwali during her school vacation and taught me the recipe. It was fun making murukku with her, we thoroughly enjoyed it. She was pressing the murukku and I was frying it. Since this recipe calls for grinding the rice, it is time-consuming. However, it is worth trying and we cannot stop with one after we start munching. Off to the recipe:

Carrot Halwa Recipe/Gajar ka halwa| Diwali Special Recipes
This is the dessert I often order, whenever I visit a restaurant. I love to have the warm carrot halwa with a scoop of vanilla icecream on top. It is a yumm combo. When I was thinking about diwali sweets, the first thing that comes to mind is Gajar ka halwa. Since I had a pack of icecream in my freezer, I readily started to prepare it two days back. We enjoyed the carrot halwa with icecream. Do give it a try this diwali.

Adhirasam Recipe | Diwali Special Recipes
My maternal grandmother stock loads of Adhirasam and murukku whenever we (grandchildren) visit her for the vacation. We love the adhirasam very much and my cousin brother, pronounces it as "Address" when he was young. When I think about this traditional snack of our hometown, so many incidents and lovely memories comes to my mind. Coming back to today's post, I got this recipe from my mom and mom in law. To my surprise, it turned out really well.

Paruppu Poli Recipe | Puran Poli | Diwali Special Recipes
Whenever I travel in train, I prefer to buy the Poli's they sell there. I am not sure about the quality of the Poli they make, but it tastes awesome. I too love the rich ghee version of coconut and Paruppu poli they serve in the Adyar Anandha Bhavan. I always wanted to try it at home and recently when I made Suzhiyam, I reserved some Channa dal filling for making this poli and it came out really well. I am planning to try the coconut poli too. Let us learn to make the divine Dal Poli's.

Thenkuzhal Murukku Recipe| Diwali Special Recipes | Murukku Recipes
Munching homemade murukku is a pure bliss and I am really excited about the outcome. My murukku press does not have the expected thenkuzhal pattern(with 3 or 4 holes), so it looks little different from the normal thenkuzhal murukku. But taste wise there is no compensation :) I will be updating the pictures, as soon as I get the exact pattern for the press.

Omapodi Recipe/Plain Sev |Diwali Special Recipes
I was really excited in making this Omapodi, which is one of my all time favorite. My maternal grandmother still remembers this and ask my uncle to get it for me whenever I go to meet her. It came out really well and wherever I go, Omapodi is there on my floor because of Happy :) (Cleaning is a tough job these days :P) She enjoys having this snack being not spicy and brittle, which is very much suitable for kids. I enjoy learning and preparing this snack. Off to the recipe.

I really love the moti ladoo from Adyar Anandha bhavan, and usually wonder about the preparation. When I saw this recipe from Jeyashri's blog, I really wanted to give it a try. Captured that lovely moment and planning to show her in the future:) It is one of my best diwali recipes I prepared until now. Without any delay let us learn how to make this yummy and delicious ladoo.

Karasev Recipe| Spicy Garlic Karasev | Garlic Karasev | Diwali Special Recipes
I am really busy these days with the preparation of Diwali sweets and savoury snacks. As soon as Happy sleep, I literally run into the kitchen to prepare some snack, I try minimal quantity so that I can finish before she wakes up. Today I am sharing the recipe of Karasev and it is Jany's all time favourite. I hear from my mom in law that he is fond of Karasev from his childhood. She says that Jany calls it as Ericha Kambu (Spicy stick) when he was young. He loves to have this mixed with sweet sev. I tried this a month back and it came out very well.

Suzhiyam Recipe | Suyam | Susiyan | Seeyam | Diwali Special Recipes
I am planning to post some of the Diwali recipes in the coming days. I was busy for the last couple of days because of our house shifting. So couldn't concentrate much on blogging, yet managed to post now and then. We are almost settled now, and thought of posting the Diwali recipes I have on hand. And, coming to today's post, it is Suzhiyam. Earlier whenever I go home from my hostel, mom manages to make Suzhiyam at least once since I was crazy about this snack. It is really addictive, I cannot stop with one :). During my mom's recent Chennai visit, with her help I prepared it. It tasted awesome and we enjoyed it. Later came to know from Jany, that he also loved Suzhiyam from his Childhood. So planning to prepare it often :)

Semiya Payasam Recipe | Vermicelli Kheer | Payasam Recipes
I wanted to share some Payasam recipe for this festive season, apart from the sundals and variety rice I have shared before. This Semiya Payasam was lying in my drafts for more than a month now and this is the correct time for it to go live. I prefer Semiya Payasam than the Paruppu Payasam when it comes to any occasion. It is very simple and easy to make. I have posted Paruppu Payasam as well, do check it here. Also, check out the recipe of semiya kesari as well.

Tamarind Rice Recipe/ Puliyogare(Puliyodharai)| Lunch Box Ideas/ Quick Lunch Ideas
I love tamarind rice if my aachi makes it. One fine day, I was craving for tamarind rice and started preparing it on my own without discussing the recipe with anyone else. It was a big flop, and it was the only recipe which Jany doesn't like in my preparation. Whenever I ask him, "What to prepare for today's lunch?", he immediately smiles and tells 'Anything other than Tamarind Rice' :( . So, I really wanted to make a perfect tamarind rice. I browsed for some recipes and asked my friends too. Finally, this was the recipe I was waiting for and it came out really well. Do give it a try, we really enjoyed it.

Peanut Sundal Recipe/ Verkadalai Sundal | Navaratri Recipes
Yet another Navaratri Sundal recipe, Peanut Sundal. I love roasted masala peanuts and peanuts in the mixture. The place where my mom works is famous for peanuts. One of my neighbors has peanuts farm and they used to give us fresh peanuts. Mom cooks the peanuts and makes sundal as an evening snack. Even though I am not fond of cooked peanuts, I have tried it. I haven't introduced peanuts to Happy until now since I have read somewhere that peanuts may create allergic reactions for babies under two years. Mainly for making this Navaratri sundal, I purchased both dry and fresh peanuts last week. It is one of the simple and healthy snacks.

In South Indian Cusine, it is common to end our meals with curd rice. It is such a comforting dish, which I prefer to have it anytime. Though we normally end our meals with plain rice and curd, I sometimes prefer curd rice with ginger and green chilli seasoning. It is a very simple and easy to make recipe. This is ideal for lunch box too. Everyone has their own way of preparations and I make it this way. And, let us see the preparation steps:

Even though I am late, I wanted to post some sundal recipes. Already I have posted Channa Sundal. First, to begin with Navarathiri Sundal recipes, I am sharing you a sweet sundal. Lemon Rice Recipe/ Elumichai Sadham | Lunch Box Ideas/ Quick Lunch Ideas
I usually don't prefer having variety rice. I like to have rice only with Kuzhambu and kootu. But I have learned few quick lunch recipes just for the sake of Jany's lunch box. Whenever I was lazy and wake up late, I use one of these recipes to pack lunch for Jany. Out of all these quick lunch recipes, lemon rice is one of the easiest with very less ingredients. I have clicked this recipe long back and was lying in my drafts. When I saw lemon rice as one of the Navarathri Recipes, I thought of posting it now. Without any delay let's go to the preparation steps.

Chicken Quiche Recipe/ Golden Onion Chicken Quiche| IFC #2
This month, International food challenge (IFC #2) is hosted by Shobana. For IFC 2, we are stepping into French Cuisine, one of the most challenging vast cuisines in the world. They are famous for their delicious pastries, but this time we dig into one of the multi-cuisine region which inherits partly German, partly French culture and so their recipes are influenced from both the countries, which is Alsace-Lorraine region. There were many recipes to try from this region, but Shobana has given us some prominent recipes from the Alsace- Lorriane region. And, from that I have tried this Traditional Quiche. It was so interesting to make, and we enjoyed it as our dinner.

Fish Finger Recipe | Seafood Special
Fish Fingers are very simple and easy to make recipe. Any fleshy fish can be used for this preparation. I used Vanjiram/King fish to prepare this. Kids will really love it and this is one of the best finger foods which kids can have it on their own. Happy enjoyed having these fish fingers. It is crispy on the outside and soft inside. Usually, we get fish from the nearby market, this is the first time we ordered in Supreme Sea Food. They provided us with excellent finger stripes and we enjoyed a lot.
