Chicken Chippies Recipe | Chippy Chicken | Chicken Chips | Chicken Fries | Kids friendly Party Snacks

I have not posted any chicken recipe for more than a year since I have not experimented any new chicken dish. Recently, I have tried few chicken items and I will be sharing it one by one. I am owning a Facebook Group "Happy Indian Foodies", which is mainly a platform for home cooks and foodies. In the group, we were planning to cook a dish every month based on the given theme. This month I am hosting the event and the theme is "Kids Pleasure".

When I was planning to try something for this event, the chicken chippies strikes my mind. I came across this after coming to Sydney and I have tasted it quite a few times. Whenever I cross a chicken shop in the nearby Westfield Mall, I have seen school kids ordering this chicken chippies and relishing it on the way back home after school. Though Happy doesn't show much interest in chicken, she too likes it.  For the recipe, I referred here and modified a little. Let us move on to the preparation steps:

Semiya Biryani Recipe | Vermicelli Biryani | Vegetable Semiya Biryani | Chef venkatesh Bhat Recipes - Recipe # 11

I have bookmarked many recipes from Vijay Tv's Samayal Samayal show by Chef Venkatesh Bhat. I like all his recipes and I am not getting sufficient time to try many recipes. Today's post is one among them and it is an easy one pot meal. This Biryani has loads of veggies in it to make it a healthy, delicious meal and it goes well with Boondi raita or onion raita. Happy and I love anything made using Semiya. Since Jany doesn't show much interest towards it, I make it once in a while. I have already posted few recipes with semiya, please check that too. They are Vegetable semiya Upma, Semiya Kesari and Semiya Payasam.  Let us move on to the preparation steps:

Kalan Recipe | Raw Banana and Yam based yogurt curry | Kurukku/Katti Kalan | Onam Sadya Special

Finally, I am winding up my Onam Sadya recipes with this Kalan post. This is also an important item in the Onam Sadya. Usually, it is made using firm vegetables like raw banana (pacha Kaya) and yam (chena). The consistency and the combination of the kalan are changed according to the occasion. For the Onam Sadya, they make the kalan a little thick with sour curd and it is called as katti kalan or kurukku kalan. (It should not run from the place where it is placed). Other days, they make it a little runny (pouring consistency). Check out the other Onam Sadya recipes too. Let us see the preparation steps:

In my native, different variety of Jackfruits is available and I love jackfruit in any form. I have already posted Chakka Pradhaman(Payasam) and Chakka Varatti(Jam) using ripened jackfruit. Apart from these sweet items, mom makes aviyal with jackfruit seeds and thoran with tender jackfruit. After coming to Sydney, I saw tender jackfruit in the Indian shop and immediately grabbed it to try this thoran. I thought of posting it before Onam as one of the special items in Onam Sadya menu. But, I couldn't post it on time. It is better late than never and I am here with the recipe of  the yummy and delicious thoran:

Happy Onam to all my friends and readers!! Hope you all liked my Onam Sadya recipes. I am a great fan of Ada Payasam's and I always wanted to make ada at home. At least, by next Onam, I should be ready with homemade ada. Last week when I visited nearby Indian shop, I saw a variety of ada and I immediately picked this to try the palada pradhaman.  It is a simple and easy to make pradhaman with just milk, ada and sugar as main ingredients.  I already have posted the Ada Pradhaman (jaggery based payasam), do check it out. Sambaram Recipe | Kerala Spiced Buttermilk | Moru Vellam | Pacha Moru | Onam Sadya Special

This year I was planning to post the consolidated Onam Sadya recipes a week before the Onam. So that it helps everyone to plan the menu in advance. However, as always I am rushing at the end to post the recipes. I have few more sadya recipes in drafts which should come live as early as possible. At least for the next sadya it will be helpful :).
Today's post is about a simple and refreshing drink made using buttermilk. Mom used to make this for my dad on weekends. Jany too tasted it once and he liked it. From that day onwards whenever we visited hometown, this will be there for him along with lunch. The ginger and the shallots give a nice flavour to the buttermilk. Do give it a try for this Onam. Check out my collection of Onam Sadya Recipes here. Let us move on to the recipe:

Pineapple Pachadi Recipe | Coconut & Yogurt based Pineapple Raita | Onam Sadya Special

This is one of my favourite Sadya dishes and I was delaying to post it here since the pictures were not appealing. Maybe, when I make it next time I should update the picture. Last week, I made this and I shared it with my Malayali friend Neena. She told the pachadi is very tasty and it is similar to the one she used to have in Kerala. The sweet pineapple, tangy curd and the chilli coconut paste makes the pachadi very addictive and do give it a try for this Onam. Check out my Beetroot Pachadi, Cucumber Pachadi and other Onam Sadya recipes too.

Instant Lemon Pickle Recipe | Easy to make lemon pickle

We don't eat pickles regularly and we will never focus on pickles from the Shop. Once in a while, I crave for pickles and after having it for a week my pickle interest will go off. Hence, pickles from the shop and homemade pickles with lots of effort go directly to the bin after its shelf life.  However, I always wanted to try some instant lemon pickle which we can make it in a jiffy. This recipe came to my rescue and it can be prepared even with one lemon in few minutes:). Also, please check out my already posted Instant Mango Pickle, Narthangai Pickle (Lime) and Long shelf life Lemon pickle. Let us see the preparation steps:

Mambazha Pulissery Recipe | Mambazha Moru Kootan | Mambazha Kalan | Ripe Mango in a Yogurt Curry | Onam Sadya Special

Yet another Onam Sadya special recipe and it is a traditional Kerala delicacy that is made using ripe mangoes. The mambazha pulissery is a sweet and sour curry where ripe mango is cooked along with coconut and yogurt based curry. The sweet and sour curry sounds little different for the people who have not tasted it before. However, trust me and try this super delicious curry. We all loved it to the core and it is worth giving it a try. Check out my moru curry, Parippu curry and other Onam Sadya Recipes here. If interested in Mango recipes, check out my Mango Icecream and Mango Panacotta too.

Fairy Bread Recipe | Classic Australian Kid's treat | Kid's Birthday Party Snacks

Today's recipe is about a well-known and much-loved snack for Children's birthday parties in Australia. This is a very simple treat that is made using three basic ingredients: the white bread is spread with a layer of butter or margarine and topped with generous amount of brightly colored sprinkles. In Australia, the sprinkles used is called 100s and 1000s (tiny ball-shaped sugar candies) and they are very specific about this for the fairy bread. They never substitute it with any other variety of bread or sprinkles to make this. I came across this in Happy's playschool party. Miss Michelle has prepared this for the kids and since it was very cute I asked her about that. She just gave the recipe in a fraction of seconds and here I am with the post :) I know it is very simple, but I wanted to record it here.
