Pazham Pori Recipe | Ethakka Appam | Banana Fritters | Pazha Bajji | Nendrapazha Appam

Ufff....finally managed five days in office. This was a hard and boring week for me both in office & home, since I was down with fever. Planning to relax this weekend without trying any new recipe. This post was lying in my draft for more than six months, so finally thought of posting it today. This is a very commonly made tea time snack in my hometown.  It is very simple and easy to make snack with very few ingredients.
Ingrediants:
Ethakka/Nendrapazham (Ripe plantain) - 4
Maida - 1 cup
Sugar - 2 tbsp
Salt - 1/8 tsp
Baking Soda - 1/4 tsp
Water -As required
Oil- to deep fry
Method:
1. Peel the skin of the plantain and cut it lengthwise into two. Then slice each piece into two horizontally.
2. Combine maida, sugar, salt, baking soda and water in a mixing bowl to form a thick batter. Meanwhile heat the oil in a kadai. Dip each banana piece in the batter and fry it in the hot oil.
3. When the fritters turn golden brown, remove it and drain the excess oil in tissue paper.
The easy to make Pazham Pori is ready. Serve it as tea time snacks.
Points to remember:
  • You can add a pinch of turmeric powder to get the yellow colour pazham pori like in shops.
  • Instead of maida, you can add rice flour as well to get crispy fritters.
  • If the banana is very ripe, it will drink more oil. So use medium ripe banana.
  • Adding baking soda is optional.
Warm Regards,
